The Purple Sky
How long must I labor in this hot, blazing sun?
I feel like a prisoner and there's no where to run
Earth's clinking and clanking gets on my nerves
It's much more than a prisoner deserves

When darkness falls slowly in my room
And the night sky is in bloom
Diamonds are sparkling on velvet black
Shooting stars dive. Earth's under attack

Luminous moon casts shadows on my wall
And shadow people begin to call
Familiar voices ring in my ear
Remembered voices I hold so dear

"Come home, come home, how long must you serve?
This is more than you deserve
Long we have waited for your return
When will the council on you adjourn?"

Leaning back in my easy chair
My charkas open and all aware
My breathing becomes deep and slow
Now I am almost ready to go

A long white tunnel beckons me
I slip from my body easily
Not looking back I bound for the sky
Hoping my home world soon draws nigh

There it is. Glorious purple orb
I fill my eyes. I must absorb
As much of her beauty as I can
My home, my home, my Dianne

I sit amidst her fair flowers
Taking in her beauty for hours and hours
Here on a high, majestic hill
And the purple sky is still

Out of the misty, purple hue
Comes a figure dressed in brilliant blue
His countenance shines with blinding gold
He calls me son and his arms enfold

All of me in his embrace
He looks me squarely in the face
And speaks with a commanding air
He tells me I must not despair

I listen intently to his words
In the background are twittering birds
Sounds of water over rock and rill
And the purple sky is still

I leave my beautiful, purple home
Vowing to come back and never roam
My heart and eyes with Dianne I fill
Where the purple sky is still.
