Misplaced Passion

By Amy F •
My wedded bliss is only simulation.
His eyes still show endearment running deep.
My eyes belie a lack of admiration.
The fault not his; my heart he failed to keep.
Clearly lost, my feelings of attraction;
I stay with him, but yearn to be without.
Leaving him should be my course of action,
I lack the strength; my head immersed in doubt.
When forced to spew forth love, I speak with lies.
He doesn’t care to catch me in my plan.
Ashamed and undeserving of his sighs;
Since I won’t live alone, I choose this man.
His mind tries to convince him that he’s wrong.
His heart has known the sad truth all along.
