I saw a friend today.
Draped in black clothes.
Cracked smile shyly crossing her face.
But her eyes dont lie.
The sadness creeps through the clear blue of her sparkling
eyes.
She suffers.
She does not speak a word of it.
But her glistening eyes dont lie.
She bites her lip in awkwardness.
Unsure of what to say.
As my arm lightly carasses the faint physical symbols of
internal pain that brace her arm.
In her eyes.
I see.
The millions of tears shed each dark night.
The lonely lost child trying to find her way through the
elaborate maze of which we call life.
The confused teenage girl attempting to make sense of the
jumbled cords of emotions that entrap her soul.
And the ungrown young woman still struggling with her
unfound identity.
I firmly take her shoulders into my hands.
Holding her still before me.
I gaze deeply into her eyes.
Her eyes gazing back deeply into mine.
My eyes do not lie, she says.
In my eyes she sees.
Herself in me.
Deeper as she looks.
She discovers
The faith I hold in her.
The strength I see in her.
And.
The unconditional love I offer her.
Her shining eyes dampen in a sudden fit of weakeness.
Barriers crumble and fall.
Her knees weaken as her body gives out.
I fall with her.
Pulling her body to mine.
Embracing my dear friend.
Cry.
Hurt.
Yell.
I wont tell.
I promise.
Endless tears soak my rags.
As the crying comes to a stop.
She looks up into my warm brown eyes.
Her eyes don't lie.
Hope glimmers through the tear engrossed sockets.
She found a friend.
Through my eyes.
