By Sandwich Massacre

A. There was gravel in her shoe and she took it off just to get it She cries out to the world but she’s terrified so she hides from it The monotony of life has cast a bitter shadow And she can’t find the sun Sometimes she’ll forget what day it was Because it’s been so much like yesterday She’ll look out the window as each car goes by Wondering if they all want to die Would they all want to die? Or are they numb to society and living like zombies? B. Shelly… Dear Shelly… We care Your antinarcissism won’t get you anywhere Everyone is miserable, but I won’t ask you why when you said “If you’re afraid to die then why the fuck were you born?” We don’t know if Jesus died that day and Mary was probably a whore Catholic freaks don’t eat meat on Fridays It’s because they have to sacrifice something But who cares anyway, they still get to eat chocolate on Easter And indulge their cravings You want to get your ass kicked one day so you won’t become a second zombie You refuse to answer the phone, it’s pure evil And there are only dazed mind controllers on the other side Shelly… dear Shelly… we care Spontaneous human combustion won’t get you anywhere Shelly… dear Shelly… don’t run away just yet One day you’ll be free, then you run out to the sea See the reflection of the sun and realize Beyond society… there is more A B 2003

Wow... I have to tell you that I quit writing years ago and I lost myself. After reading so many of your wonderful poems, I have started writing again. You have inspired the unmotivated. Thank you.
