Doorway to Nowhere, by thndrhwk Subscribe to rss feed for thndrhwk

Near where I live, there is a cemetery with one very
remarkable tomb; a large (About 7 feet high) stone slab with
a metal door that won't open and is missing a handle.
Through the grate on the top of the door, you can see a
shelf with a black stone jar sits, though it's badly broken.
Most of the pieces sit beside it, and from a short distance
it looks like a head and hands, giving you an impression
that someone is inside, clutching at the bars and staring at
you. No one knows much about it, except that it's extremely
old, and somehow infinitely spooky, especially at night when
the shadows make it even harder to tell that there isn't
someone in there.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Here I am, in my door that goes Nowhere.
I see you, you see me
Face and hands pressed to the bars--
But it's only some long broken jar
Bearing a piece of my name.
(All that's left of me,
“ --cob Moritz”.
Not even a date to remember...)
You there, I know you,
Are you here to open this door?
Wait, not you, you haven't been here before.
You look so much like your mother.
She came here too, with her friends
Every Halloween.
Three times around me
On midnight, All Hallows Eve,
“Come back Emo,”
Then I'm free;
Brave one, you lasted two circles,
But it wasn't you, and I've said this before.
Time is turning,
Returning,
Broken like me.
Set me free!
I implore you,
Set me free.
I won't hurt you,
Not much, anyway...
Can't you see my hands reaching for
Help that won't come?
Can't you see me,
Hear me screaming?
I just want to be whole,
To see time as it's meant to be seen.
Here I am, in my door that goes Nowhere.
Oh, it goes somewhere,
But you don't know that yet,
And it's not up to you just now.
Leave, but don't dare turn your back.
Walk away,
But remember me here,
Getting Nowhere,
For Nowhere found me and
Come back,
Set me free...
