twirling glittery dances of chiffon, satin and silk, lace and fur trims.. everyone done up beautiful and bright, 800 people all celebrating tonight. but who they are no one can tell. they all wear masks with feathers and ribbons, glitter and sequins, fancy colours, hiding their faces. swirling and dipping, exchanging partners at will who are with, can anyone tell? sweeping by three young maidens, in yellow, pink, and the last in green. who are those girls, that i've never before seen? dancing and laughing, sipping a cocktail meandering the room i come across a mirror. outward from it a reflection cast i glance at her but she is not myself. she is fancy and pretty and everything right she fits in here, she'll get to dance away the night. but unlike the others, when i go home, i don't take off my mask, i leave it on always. glamour and prestige, happyness and so much more, radiate from this mask, that has grown attached at the neck. if i remove it, i remove my head, i remove my life, in which case, i would be dead. xoxo kyelle
