Masquarade, by Faith, by Thoughtless Encounters
|
I will wake up in the morning,
check myself in the mirror.
Paint a smile on my face.
Wipe away all my tears.
I will lock away the girl inside,
hide her in my room.
Once I step outside my door
she will wait until I come home.
I will go throughout my day;
you will not even know I am there.
Then I will vanish at day's end
It will never cross your mind to care.
I will go home to the mirror,
peel away the layers I applied.
I will take the mask off my face
and carefully put it all aside.
There I will stand totally exposed
with no one there to see
what my soul is really like
unbridled, naked and free.
