Familiar, by LaLa

I could be your mother
Maybe I could be your child
Whatever, or just a sister
You know me, I said you do know me
I could be you
Years of abuse, generations of poverty,
Centuries or I'll get back to you
I am the mother of your child, your wife
Even the next door neighbor
Now do you know me?
I am proud, a lawyer
Look behind you and you will remember me
I will not tolerate your abuse
And of course you can't get back to me
We shall take care of it now
Yet you still don't know me
Yes, you say, I am the backbones
Of this nation
I am beautiful, I am intelligent
And you'd like me to be your lover
See it doesn't matter if you know me,
I know who I am
And demand to be known
You do know me
I am your past, present, and future
That's ok I recognize myself.
